Hi Wellness IQ Crew!
Over the past few weeks, we have been talking about smarter supplement choices. We talked about creatine for muscle, energy, and healthy aging. We talked about magnesium and why the form matters. Then we talked about electrolytes and how hydration is not always as simple as drinking more water.
And I have to tell you, I loved hearing from so many of you.
Some of you checked your bottles and realized you were already making good choices. Others said the articles helped you finally understand what to look for. Some of you created Fullscript accounts. And yes, a few of you have started choosing better options through my dispensary. That is exactly the point. Not more supplements just for the sake of taking more supplements. Smarter choices.Better quality. Less guessing. More Wellness IQ. So this week, let’s build on that with a question I hear all the time in the summer: Why am I so tired?
Let’s Raise Your Wellness IQ Summer fatigue can be real.Heat, sweat, poor sleep, travel, alcohol, inconsistent meals, too little protein, blood sugar swings, dehydration, and low mineral intake can all leave you feeling more drained than usual.Sometimes the answer is not one thing. It is the combination.
Heat Takes Energy When it’s hot outside, your body has to work harder to stay cool. That can leave you feeling more tired, especially if you are outside for long periods of time, walking, exercising, gardening, sitting at outdoor events, traveling, or running around with kids and grandkids. You may not think of heat as a stressor, but your body does. Heat can affect your energy, mood, appetite, sleep, hydration, and recovery. That does not mean something is “wrong” with you. It may simply mean your body is working harder than you realize.
Hydration Is Part of the Energy Story Water matters . . . a lot! But when you sweat, you lose more than water. You also lose electrolytes, especially sodium. If you are drinking water but still feeling wiped out after heat, sweat, travel, workouts, alcohol, or long days outside, it may be worth thinking about electrolyte support. Not every day. Not all day long. And not because electrolytes are trendy. Because sometimes your body needs more than plain water to feel replenished.

Sleep Can Get Messy in the Summer Longer days, later nights, travel, heat, alcohol, inconsistent routines, and more screen time can all affect sleep. And poor sleep can make everything feel harder the next day. You may crave more sugar, rely on more caffeine, feel less motivated to exercise, or feel like you are dragging even if you technically got enough hours in bed. This is one reason I talk so often about magnesium glycinate. Magnesium is not a magic sleep pill, but it is often chosen for relaxation, stress support, muscle relaxation, and gentle daily magnesium support. If you missed the magnesium article, this is a good time to check your bottle. The form matters. See My Favorite Magnesium Glycinate Options Here: FULLSCRIPT LINK
Blood Sugar Swings Can Feel Like Fatigue Summer schedules can throw off eating patterns. Maybe breakfast gets skipped. Maybe lunch is lighter than usual.Maybe dinner is later. Maybe there are more chips, cocktails, ice cream, desserts, barbecues, and snacky meals. No judgment. That is summer. But big gaps between meals, too little protein, too much sugar, or too many refined carbs can lead to blood sugar ups and downs. And those dips can feel like:
fatigue
brain fog
irritability
cravings
shakiness
afternoon crashes
needing more caffeine
One simple place to start: Build meals and snacks around protein, fiber, healthy fats, and color. Food first . . . Always. But sometimes, having a few smart supports on hand makes it easier to stay consistent.
Protein, Muscles, and Minerals Matter Too If you are not getting enough protein, you may feel it. Protein helps support muscle, blood sugar balance, recovery, immune function, and healthy aging. And as we age, protein becomes even more important. This is not about bodybuilding. It is about staying strong, steady, energized, and resilient.
Minerals matter too. Magnesium and electrolytes help support fluid balance, muscle function, nerve signaling, energy production, relaxation, and healthy stress response. When you sweat more, eat inconsistently, drink more alcohol, travel, or rely on convenience foods, mineral intake and balance can suffer. This does not mean everyone needs a pile of supplements. It means minerals and protein are worth paying attention to.
Quick Wellness IQ Check If you have been feeling unusually tired this summer, ask yourself:
Am I drinking enough water?
Am I sweating more than usual?
Do I need electrolytes sometimes?
Am I sleeping well?
Am I getting enough protein?
Am I skipping meals or grazing on snacks?
Am I drinking more alcohol than usual?
Am I relying on caffeine to push through?
Am I choosing supplements thoughtfully, or just guessing?
That last question matters. Because the supplement aisle can be overwhelming. And the internet can be even worse. That is why I am putting more focus on helping you make better supplement choices, one topic at a time.
Where My Fullscript Dispensary Comes In My goal is not to convince you to take every supplement. My goal is to help you make smarter choices when a supplement makes sense. Fullscript is my trusted professional supplement dispensary, used by health practitioners to recommend carefully vetted, high quality products from brands preferred by clinicians.Instead of guessing online, comparing hundreds of products, or grabbing whatever looks good on a shelf, I am creating simple, practical Fullscript lists around the topics we are discussing. This week, I created a short list of my favorite summer energy support options. The goal is simple:
better quality
trusted brands
less confusion
fewer impulse buys
smarter support for real-life wellness
Depending on your needs, that may include options for hydration, electrolytes, magnesium, protein, or energy metabolism support.

A Smart Safety NoteFatigue can have many causes. Heat, hydration, sleep, stress, blood sugar, nutrition, hormones, medications, thyroid function, anemia, infection, and other health concerns can all play a role. If your fatigue is new, severe, persistent, unusual for you, or comes with symptoms like dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain, fainting, rapid heartbeat, confusion, weakness, or unexplained weight loss, please check with your healthcare provider. Supplements can be helpful tools, but they are not a substitute for appropriate medical care.
Final Thought Summer is supposed to feel fun.But heat, sweat, travel, late nights, alcohol, disrupted routines, and inconsistent meals can all catch up with you. If you are feeling more tired than usual, do not just push harder. Pause and ask better questions. Am I hydrated? Am I sleeping? Am I eating enough protein? Am I keeping blood sugar steady? Am I replenishing minerals when it makes sense? Am I choosing better quality supplements, or am I just guessing? That is Wellness IQ.
See you next time. And as always, be cool to your future self.
